Foreign Trade

In 1995, the U.S. suffered its largest trade deficit in history. In just two decades, we have gone from being the world's largest creditor nation to its largest debtor nation. One result of the increasing trade deficit is a steady stream of jobs, particularly well-paying manufacturing jobs, that have migrated overseas. One way that American workers can help in reducing the trade deficit and the loss of American jobs is to buy American. The Made in the USA Foundation was formed in 1989 to increase sales of U.S. made products.
